Why Pakistani leaders opt to speak in English....

Recently I watched Pakistani Prime Minister (Yousaf Raza Gillani) speaking alongside British counterpart (Gordon Brown) at a press conference at 10 Downing Street, London UK. Gilani had apparently no control over choice of words, no style, not a single effective sentence, and more over he stood and presented himself like a subservient person to British PM.

Gillani changes multiple three piece suits with matching ties and shoes resembling to be a model on a cotest plateform. He fails to understand that his countrymen are dying at the hands of terrorists, hunger and are facing corruption in every field of government intervention.

Leaders in Pakistan are of elite classes but get elected through their selected power bases in villages and towns and through use of money that these corrupt politicians have accumulated through corruption.

If one looks at the style of our leaders and their cavalcades, no one will image and belive that they represent one of the poorest nation on earth. Even the opposition leader Nawaz Sharif lives and postures like an emperor. Question arises, where does all this money came from?

Answer is very clear...i.e. through corruption and plunder. It is high time for the educated middle class people of the country to come forward and educate the massesof these corrupt mafias of leaders and bring new honest and dynamic leadership from amongst the common people of Pakistan.

Last advise to PM Gillani, That he should use an interpretor and he must speak in Urdu. Prime Ministers of many countries speak in their own languages and use interpretors while addressing international audiances. He should feelpride in speaking his national language. secondly he should start wearing national dresse rather than three piece English suits.

Come on Mr. Prime Minister... behave like a mature sensible PM of this nation of 132 millions.

Will Zardari leave his fort???

Asif Ali zardari as popularly known as Mr. ten percent before becoming President of Pakistan, has proved that he still is venturing into lucrative business deals like acquiring prized 2500 acres of land in Islamabad. This is a latest exposed example of conflict of interest involving his person as President of the country.

Moreover, a French newspaper has reported that Asif Ali Zardari has received kickbacks from a French company in lieu of French submarines acquired for Pakistan Navy. This he received through a middle man from Lebanon and sums were enormously huge.

Zardari and his very close colleagues are accused of lobbying for inserting derogatory articles in recently passed US legislation (Kerry Lugar Bill) and these conditions are all aimed against Pakistan Army and controlling army through US influence. Thanks God that effort back fired on Zardari and company and masses in Pakistan protested in every city of the country.

How can we forget infamous National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). Zardari has numerous criminal charges against him in courts which were all withdrawn as a deal with then dictator General Musharaf. (Mind you, Zaradari's Pakistan Peoples Party calims to be a democratic one...). Fate of Zardari seems to be decided in Supreme Court of Pakistan very soon.

Academically Zardari is a Matriculate. The condition of becoming a member of Parliament was atleast graduation but rules were changed just to accomodate a guy like Zardari on the behest of US pressures and interference. But question arises why USA favours people like Zardari who have a blemished character. Answer is very simple... USA wants dummies and who would not love to have a dummy like Zardari at highest post in Pakistan.

President Nixon in USA had to leave office in USA as he was covering up a scandal named as "water-gate". He had no criminal charges against his person. Why can't Zardari follow his ideal nation USA and its leaders.

National Reconciliation Ordinance

National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) was promulgated in Pakistan by then President General Pervez Musharaf as a result of back door political bargaining with Behnazir Bhutto and MQM leaders in Pakistan. These dealings were sponsored by US and British Governments. These foreign governments made this law made by Mushraf so that he could stay as President of Pakistan besides Behnazir Bhutto and MQM as his partners in government.

What is NRO? It is an ordinance that quashes all criminal and civil cases against many political leaders of Pakistan including Behnazir Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari (incumbent President of Pakistan), Rehman Malik (incumbent Interior Minister) and MQM leader Altaf Hussein. These are major beneficiary of this NRO. These crimes have been washed away with a stroke of pen of a dictator. Ok Musharaf was a dictator but why did US and UK Governments helped in notification of such a shame law.

This law is against Human Rights and fair trail concept on equal footing for all citizens. Here through NRO richest criminal have been given clean slate through connivance of so-called mother of democracy (UK) and USA.

Will Zardari change his submissive style .....!!!

Zardari has let his whole nation down by personally welcoming low level official of USA and standing like a personal courtier infront of Richard Halbrook.

This is height of incompetence on part of President Zardari. Another thing that has gone to alarming heights that Zardari is always on foreign tours. This is solely a job for a Prime Minister who is this case is a lame duck in the shape of Gilani of Multan.

People in streets wonder as to why Zardari is always going to Dubai????

No one knows exactly, however, some still believe that he has businessinterests in Dubai so he always makes sure to divert his plane to this modern sheikhdom.

Pakistan becomes Champion - Twenty Twenty World Cup

Today Pakistan made history in the world of sports by securing world championship title of Cricket in Twenty Twenty World Cup. This final match was played in famous Lords Stadium in England. Pakistan won by eight wickets. All players gave their best performances.

Star of the game were again Pathans from NWFP like Shahid Khan Afridi and Younis Khan. In 1992, when Pakistan won World Cup, it was then a pathan too. His name is Imran Khan who has turned into a refomed muslim, politician and a social worker.

Pathans played well beside other players who have also done well. Congratulations to all Pakistanis and to whole Pakistani Cricket team and team management.

Need to Change Electoral System in Pakistan

The current system electing members of National and Provincial assemblies on the basis of simple majority has failed in Pakistan. To illustrate this theory, I will give an example as below:

In a constituency, there are four candidates and total votes casted in the area are 100,000. A gets 25000, B gets 26000, C gets 27000 and D gets 22000 votes. As per current system C will be elected to the assembly with only 27% of votes in his favour, while 73% votes have been against him. Now it translates into a representation of only 27% of the coters while voices of 73% will not be heard.

Therefore, a change to adopt a system where voices of all political voices are heard. The best system would be that of proportionate representation where votes are casted to the parties and on the basis of votes cated in favour of each party, seats in assemblies are allocated to them. Beauty of this system is that no segmnent of society is left unheard. Each citizen feels part of the system and country represents the full shine of democracy. Examples of this system are in Finland, Denmark and Germany and they are extremely successful

Pakistan needs a change as current system bring the same feudals, oppressors, and people with wealth and power. Also, the existing system is causing a hereditary succession of certain seats in the country.

Nizam e Adl Regulation in Malakand Division and Kohistan Hazara NWFP, Pakistan

National Assembly of Pakistan adopted a bill whereby courts have been regualrized as per the overwhelming demand of the people of Malakand Division and Kohistan Hazara of NWFP. People have been demanding for easily accessible justice system in these areas. There have been a long struggle in these areas under the leadership of Maulana Sufi Muhammad who hails from Maidan Area of District Dir. He gathered his followers under the banner of Tehrik e Nifaz e Shariat e Muhammadi (TNSM). He started his campaign in 1994 and got momentum through all these years.

People are fed up with the slow and expensive judicial mechanism of the country therefore people gathered on a single agenda. i.e. enactment of Islamic judicial system. Constitution of Pakistan also warrants that all laws of the country be under the guidance of Shariat e Muhammadi. However, it is a sad situation that successive rulers of Pakistan have succumbed to the pressures of western countries and have been ignoring this committment of promulgating Islamic laws in the country.

Under the new act of parliament, qazis (judges) in Malakand will be appointed who are bound to decide the cases with in specified time limit. There will be no dragging of cases for years.

Ironically, the so called democrates of Pakistan like Altaf Hussein of MQM are crying and shouting against this new system enacted by the parliament. Altaf Hussein is a criminal who has introduced target killings in Karachi and has now fled to United Kingdom where he has become a UK citizen too. He is still receiving extortion money from Karachites on daily basis and has become a symbol of deceit and duality and ignorance.

Some NGOs and sitting in Islamabad,Lahore and Karachi are speaking against this Shariat Bill. They speak against it to prove themselves as loyal and followers of western values. They are clear losers in this wind of change as they seem to live in glass palaces.

People in Malakand Division of NWFP are extremely happy on the success of their just struggle. The success of this nizam e adl is largely dependant on the sincerity of all stakeholders i.e. Government of Pakistan, Government of NWFP, TNSM and Taleban of the area.

Brutal lashing of a young girl in Swat

There were scenes on cable networks of a 17 years old girl being lashed on her back by Taliban of Swat. The girl only crime was that she was reported walking out with her father in law. The neighbour is reported to be the one who incited local Taliban against that girl.

This act of Taliban has made the whole nation very furious.Parents have become scared of their young girls. Writ of Government in Swat has completely failed. The personal vengeance has taken control of this scenic valley.People are settling their personal scores through taleban of the area.

Lets analyse this from Islamic perspective. She was with in the Islamic limitations of going or walking with her own father in law. She did not commit any adultery. There was no witness to prove any guilt on her part. While watching the video on tv one can see that that innocent girl was held by two adult Taliban from hands and feet and a third was lasing at her back. She was crying in pain in from of hundred of men standing around. It was a brutality and totally against injunctions of Islam.

Taliban are on path of tarnishing the beautiful image of Islam through such acts and videos. Government of Pakistan and NWFP has clearly failed in protecting the citizen of such brutalities.

All eyes are on the suo motto action taken by Chief Justice of Pakisran Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary who has constituted a full bench and ordered provincial government and its top officers to appearbefore the bench.

Clear Message to West from Pakistanis...!!!!

March 15th, 2009 will be remembered in the history of Pakistan that people of this country got united and came out as one single voice for restoration of the deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan. Though much has been written about this soft revolution, there is a very important message for the western countries.

These western countries have always supported autocrates and dictators in Pakistan and have spent billions of dollars to put their weight behind such undemocratic rulers of this country. Zardari being an elected president, still he is behaving like a civilian dictator. These western powers have miserably failed to understand the minds of common people in Pakistan who have demonstarted aginst these autocrates who are still being supported by the west. This was a soft revolution and was an historic victory for the civil society of Pakistan.

There are also rumors that President Zardari has developed conflicts and serious difference with his own son Bilawal. Political analysts and intelligentia have come to a unanimous conclusion that no good could be expected of Zardari. He is arrogant and stuborn person and he loves money to his death. He will do anything to make money and no morals come in his way for making fortunes. He doesn't believe in rules and laws.

There seems that Zardari has been on exit mode and could be days or a few months before he is pushed out of power. He has made Presidency a hub of conspiracies and horse trading.

Will western countries specially USA consider listening to the masses instead of these autocrates in Pakistan???

Woman....!!

Those were times of ignorance when women were buried and comes Islam which gave respect, dignitynand love to them. Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) used to lay down his chadder for his beloved daughter. Before Islam, women never got any share in property and no influence in politics and communities.

Prophet (PBUH), in his last sermon, declared that " you have rights over your wives and your wives have rights over you". It is a universal declaration for the status of women in society. No other religion has given such a esteemed status to women. Women in west were not even allowed to cast votes till the first half of last century. Besides being a mother, wife, daughter and sister she could be best friend for someone special in her life. Woman is a comfort that Allah has provided to this world and must be respected.

It is rightly said that behind every successful man, there is a woman behind him. This is very true in these modern times. Woman is an institution that builds a household, society and civilizations.

These lines have been written in response to an email received from one of my dearest friend from Saudi Arabia who has been always there for me.....!!!! Thanks leokhan....MMMM..!!!!!

Minus one formula for President Zardari

Since President Zardari took over, it was thought that he will be a changed person due to his long detention in prison and association with late Benazir Bhutto. Everything he has done since taking over reins of the power are in contradiction of the very basic democratic norms in a civilized society.

He appointed judges to superior judiciary who have a criminal background and also have bad reputation in the country. He made blunder by curbing the expression of news and ordered blocking of transmission of major independent TV channels like Geo TV and Royal TV. His government has made whole of the country as a prison and there are worst restricions on free movement of citizen in the country. Police is encroaching on privacy of citizen and making arrests on large scales. People are being put in jail without any charge. Women are dragged on roads by police and children have been frightened by barbaric acts of police and Zardari mafia. These are shameful acts of a so called democratic party and government.

President Zardari is scared of a free and independent judiciary as he has numerous corruption and murdercharges agianst him which were pardoned through NRO by dictator Musharaff. Legal experts say that there can be no pardon for corruption chrages so this is the reason of Zardari's dilemma.

Zardari government have paralysed whole of the country and businesses have been damaged. Goods transport is under seige and public transportation has been forcefully removed from roads and streets by the administration. Patients can not get to hospitals and children are confined to their homes and denied to attend schools, colleges and universities.

Trailers and containers have been stolen by the Zardari government and goods worth billions of dollars are in these containers and traders and businesses have come to stand still.

Can Pakistan afford all this mess? Answer is simple NO. How to get out of this situation? Consensus is to remove President Zardari from power as he has a mindset totally against democratic norms and traditions. He has proved to be a hurdle in restoration of free and independent judiciary. A firm belief has developed in the country that "minus one" formula must be applied on Zardari himself. Pakistan cannot afford an arrogant and undemocratic person like President Zardari as their Head of State.

Bibi Hawa - Mansehra

Pakistan gave us identity and pride in commity of nations. Pakistan was founded on an ideology to have a seperate homeland for muslims of sub-continent. Pakistan was founded by a man who fought this struggle through his intellect, leadership and steadfastness.There are so many unknown contributors to this historic struggle for creation of Pakistan. One of them was BIBI HAWA from Mansehra (Hazara) in NWFP. She was an uneducated lady from modern schooling standards but she has adopted and understood the movement for independence. She is described as a courageous widow wearing turban and having a revolver on hanging from her shoulders.She was married to Khanizaman Khan Swati of Mansehra who died in 1936 and had only one son named as Roshan Khan Swati. Her struggle and contribution towards Pakistan movement was noticed in 1946 when she took out all women of Mansehra for casting votes in histric referendum. Women of Mansehra came out for the first time to cast votes and made referendum in favour of Pakistan.She was an highly devoted follower of famous saint named as Sakhi Sain Saheli sarkar. She was always there to distribute food items amongst poor and needy at the tomb of Saheli sarkar located in Muzaffarabad (Azad Kashmir). She used to walk alone from Mansehra to Muzaffarabad to participate the annual urs of this great sufi saint.She later became first lady councillor of Mansehra after independence and was widely respected.

She was a real hero in historic struggle for creation of Pakistan. He died on August 14, 1969 and laid to rest in Mansehra.

Split in Pakistan Peoples Party in Pakistan

The part of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto has practically splitted into many factions. All this is due to the arrogance and undemocratic attitudes of President Zardari. Zardari and his very close net of unelected advisors are going against wishes and demands of people of Pakistan.

Today Senator Raza Rabbani has resigned from Leader of the House from Senate and also resigned from federal cabinet. Rabbani has been a die hard parliamentarian from PPP and has contributed a lot for the party under Benazir Bhutto.

A major blow came for Zardari from Naheed Khan political secretary of Benazir Bhutto and her husband Senator Safdar Abbassi when they addressed Rawalpindi Bar today. Both came openly against President Zardari for his failed policies and mistrust that people of Pakistan have against Zardari.

There is a poll published today by Geo TV which shows that popularity of Zardai is 9% while that of Nawaz Sharif is at 91%. This is a reality picture of what people in streets are thinking. Zardari is becoming alone very rapidly.

I would not wonder if "minus one" formula applies to President Zardari himself. To majority of intellectuals, this option seems more favourite to save Paksitan and bring country out of this mess.

Chaudary Shujjat Hussain - an opportunist

Though I didn't like to comment on a personality, it became necessary in current situation. I wonder how on earth a person who cannot speak a single sentence with clarity, is President of a political party PMLQ and also became Prime Minister under a dictator. No wonder dictators need such people to legitimize their actions. He has always played dual faced policies and changed his stance without any shame and guilt. When he can't face the reporters he wears black glasses.....what a joker.

He in my view is an opportunist who wants to have share of power game. He stabbed his own leader Nawaz Sharif when Musharaf took over. He never stood to a single occasion during eight years of dictatorial rule of General Musharaf. He and his brother in law Pervaiz Elahi vowed to re-elect General Musharaf ten time in a military uniform.

Shujjat is the one along with Pervaiz Elahi to have the most controversial ordinance of NRO promulgated. He along with Zardari are beneficiaries of this ordinance of Musharaf. He had taken billion of rupees in loans and has never returned like Zardari so both these opportunists have siphoned national exchequer overseas and still sucking blood from the miseries of Pakistani nation.

Chaudary Shujjat is again active to grab role in Punjab through deals with Zardari. This time it will be next to impossible for this politician from Gujrat to have any role inpolitics. He is an opportunist of worst type and needs to retire for good of this nation.

Government panic starts in Pakistan

The latest development in federal capital Islamabad is that barricades have been erected on almost every road of the city while in province of Punjab a ban on assembly of five or more people under section 144 have been imposed. There are news that government there has decided to arrest all opposition leadership alongwith leaders of lawyers movement. Directions to the police and other law enforcing agencies are reported to have been issued and crack down will start tonight.

There is also a very disturbing news that federal governmentunder the direct directions of Prsident Zardari have decided to remove Justice Chaudary from his residence and move him to Quetta (Baluchistan). This will be a very sad day in the history of Pakistan and Asif Zardari's name will goin the history bracketted with dictators like Zia ul Haq and General Musharaf. All these steps by the government are going to fire back and will bring its existence to an ultimate downfall sooner than expected.

Government is showing panic and is bent to deny democratic movement for restoration of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary.

Drip and sprinkle Irrigation

There is shortage of gound and surface water in NWFP specially in FATA and parts of Hazara. Lands in these regions of NWFP are fertile and are suitable to grow profitable crops, fruits and vegetables.

Land holdings in these areas are smalland farmers are very poor. There is a need to educate farmers for switching to sustainable farming through innovation and partnership with leading companies and organizations. Drip and sprinkle irrigation systems can help farmers to grow all kinds of fruits and vegetables in hese beautiful areas. Farmers can start producing fresh vegetables and market them to earn cash and also for household consumption.

These systems can be run on electricity, generators, solar panels and also manually. Technologies are easily available and are extremely cost effective. There is dire need to introduce these technological innovations in FATA, Swat and Hazara so farmers and people can benefit from feresh crops grown locally.

Both government and non governmental organizations can effectively contribute to uplift the farming community and help sustain their farm production.

Struggle for restoration of CJ

March 16th will be an historic day in the turbulent history of Pakistan. People from all over the country will converge on the country's capital - Islamabad. Lawyers and democratic forces that are part of this movement have decided to continue their sit-in in capital till the honorable restoration of Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhmmad Chaudary as Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Today there was an eye opening gallup survey published in all national dailies which suggested that President Zardari doesn't have any popular support in the country. No Pakistani trusts his personality as he has broken his public committments in a a very bizzare way.

Since taking over reins of the state, President Zardari has made serious blunders and caused international embarassment for the people of Pakistan. To mention a few, here are examples:

  • Bringing Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) under the rule of Federal Interior Ministry;
  • Asking Chief of ISI to visit India as per demands of Indian government;
  • Backing out of Bhurban Declaration, Charter of Democracy and Islamabad Accord;
  • Promulgation of Mobile Courts's Ordinance;
  • Appointment of people party workers as judges of superior judiciary;
  • Imposition of Governor's rule in Punjab;
  • Locking up of Provincial Assembly building in Punjab;
  • Failing to protect Srilankan cricket team in Lahore;

  • There are clear disunity amongst ruling PPP due to the behaviour of President Zardari and his very close advisors.

    Citizen in Pakistan ponder what would be a headway in this political non-sense? Answer in the streets is that politics of blackmailing has to stop. There is a need for serious pruning to remove these deadly twigs from our national politics. There are cries of revolution if this soft long march and sit-in are stopped. We all need to save our beloved country provided we wake up to the challenges of these times.

    Justice Iftikhar has become a symbol of this soft revolution and he must be restored to save Pakistan. He has stood for principles to uphold rule of law and constitution which made him symbol of HOPE amongst all Pakistanis from Gilgit to Karachi.

    Pakistan is passing through a very sensitive time of her history and have rightly been termed as defining moments. Writing on the wall is that ideologies succeed while personal agendas are meant to fail. President Zardari is on personal agenda and his close advisors are bent on destroying the peaceful and just struggle for restoration of CJ.

    It is sad to note that politically inclined inductees into superior judiciary by Zardari show malafide intentions of the President. Judges should be appointed on merit so they can provide justice without any fear and compulsions.

    Face saving opportunity for Zardari

    As we all know that Mr.Zardari became President of Pakistan due to circumstances. He clearly lacks rational decision making and more seriously to be commander-in-chief of an atomic power. His tenure till now has shown mere promises and then backing out of the publicly made committments with other stakeholders. To name a few are his committments towards Charter of Democracy, Bhurban declaration and Islamabad Accord.

    He is reluctant to relinquish his presidential powers bestowed in his position through 58 (2) B, 17th ammendment and many others. He committed in his first speech in parliament that will will give these powers back to the parliament. Till now he hasn't fulfilled his commitments in this regard.

    He being a Head of State of an Islamic country has to make sure that he never fails on his committments. Both Pakistanis and foreign countries see him as a person who cannot be trusted. At the moment he is the most cursed and disliked person in Pakistan. He do have support in province of Sindh where his ally MQM is supporting him due to their lust for back door influence in politics. Altaf Hussain's and Zardari's background is tarred with criminal activities known to the people of Pakistan.

    Zardari's recent fiasco is imposition of Governor's rule in the largest province of Punjab and continued support to a Governor whose conversation is not even being discussed at any forum. Governor Taseer has ignited and damaged the poltical stability of this province in particular and of the whole country in general. He has his own agenda and is supported by Zardari's camp with out any consideration for democracy and integrity of the country.

    A recent public slap came on Zardari's face from his own Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani. PM advised President Zardari at floor of the National Assembly of Pakistan to withdraw the "Mobile Courts Ordinance" promulgated by President to curb fortcoming "sit-in"and political rallies by the opposition parties for restoration of Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary as Chief Justice of Pakistan.

    Zardari downfall is imminent. Its a matter of time that he will be ousted by the political forces. He is incapable to comprehend the ground realities and has shown his fantasies towards USA. This must be noted that late Behnazir Bhutto kept Zaradri out of political affairs and he was never involved in the political struggle. She was aware that it was Zardari whose greed and corruption brought her government down and she had to face all these hardships.

    Nevertheless, Zardari can have a face saving exit through following steps:

    a. Relinquish 58(2)B powers and transfers all such powers to the Prime Minister who is
    answerable to the nation through parliament;

    b. At once remove Suleman Taseer as Governor of Punjab;

    c. Withdraw 17th amendment from the constitution and charge ex dictator General
    Musharaf for treason and breaking the constitution. Article 6 of Constitution demands this
    from the President.

    d. Get out of insane war on terror and stop killing Pakistani people in FATA and Swat.

    e. Restore Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary as Chief Justice of Pakistan.

    Though zardari has become symbol of hatred in Pakistan in a very short span and he has lost confidence of the people of Pakistan. It will be for the good of the country that a mentally unstable person is replaced by a political intellectual for this highest office. Moreover, there are clear rifts among the ranks and files of his own party PPP towards his policies and actions. Time is ticking fast for President Zardari to decide for his own future. Certainly he would not like to be bracketed with dictators - though their is only one difference between him and ex dictators i.e uniform.

    Srilankan cricket team attacked

    Today Srilankan cricket team was attacked in city of Lahore on March 3, 2009. Team was on board a bus from their hotel to the match venue located at Qaddaffi Stadium.

    There are reports that twelve attackers were involved in this incident. They wevre well armed and have enough ammunition at their disposal. The initial analysis shows that resemblance of these Lahore attackers is with the ones who attacked Taj Hotel in Mumbai. Circumstantial evidence also suggests that Indian involvement is inevitable. India has adverse relations with Srilankan Government. Indian Government and army are ardent supporters of LTTE in Srilanka who want a separate homeland for Tamils.

    India has also successfully embarrassed Pakistan at a time when we are involved in internal political turmoil in Pakistan. The ammunition recovered in Lahore from the crime scene show as these are manufactured in India.

    This attacked occurred from three sides of the circular road and attackers exhibited professional training. Driver of the bus was brave to drive away the team straight to stadium. This helped save the team and there were no causalities in the team except a few injuries to some team members. There is a report of 6 police men being killed in this incident and two civilian as well.

    The Government in Punjab is under Governor’s rule as and there is turmoil in the province. All responsible government functionaries are involved in horse trading of assembly members in Punjab to create artificial majority for the ruling PPP. It must be noted that PPP is in minority in Punjab so have imposed Governor rule there just to gain ground in this largest province.

    Cricket is the major entertainment in Pakistan. People from all walks of life support the game and cricketers have a great deal of respect in the country. Stadiums are always full and people enjoy with great enthusiasm.

    It is also suggested by majority of the people in Pakistan that it should come out of this insane war on terror. It is not our war so we should not kill our own people on the behest of America.

    There are also rumors that intelligence officials have warned the Governor Punjab in Lahore for such an attack. Ironically, Governor Taseer is involved in horse trading of political figures and posting transfers of the government functionaries. Besides, all top police officials and are involved in destrying lawyers movement.

    In summary, it’s a failure of Zardari and his Governor in Punjab along with Interior Ministry. Will all these accept their moral responsibility and step down of their offices.

    Hazara - a glimpse.....!!!!!

    Hazara is a beautiful valley and is situated in the North West Frontier Provinceof Pakistan. It comprises of five administrative districts namely Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram and Kohistan. The major languages spoken here are Hindko,Pushto, Kohistani and Gojri. There are mountains, ravines, waterfalls, lakes and pastures. Influential tribes are Swatis, Jadoon, Tareen, Khankhels, Syeds and Gujars.

    Livelihood of people in these areas are mostly on subsistence farming, services and tourism industry. There are a few industries situated in the southern district of Haripur which employ a few thousand workers only. There are still many locations like Nathiagali, Thandiani, Tarbela lake, Saiful Malook lake, Kaghan, Naran, Balakot, Indus River and thick forests of upper Mansehra, Mattagram and Kohistan. Wildlife is abundant in all these natural habitats and one can enjoy the natural environment in abundance.

    Hazara is blessed with best educational institutions of the country. Some are Abbottabad Public School, Burn Hall, Islamia Public School Mansehra, Mansehra Public School and many others. Abbottabad has become a national city as people from all corners of the country have their representation in this scenic valley of Abbottabad. Reader must note that Abbottabad was named after a British Deputy Commissioner of Hazara named as Abbott while Mansehra gets its name after Sikh Raja of the area named as Man Singh and Haripur is named after its Sikh ruler Hari Singh.

    Major crops grown here are wheat, maize, rice, beans and vegetables. off-season crops come from the mountain regions of Kighan and Baran and fetch high prices in the marketplace. Flue-cured Virginia (FCV) tobacco is grown in Mansehra District and is the premier type of tobacco conumed in cigarette industry of the country. Tobacco groen in Mansehra is most expensive in the country due to its quality, aroma, smoking attributes and nicotene/sugar ratio.

    All fruits of temperate and sub-tropical regions are grown throughout this region. Major ones are apple, apricot, plums, persimon, hazlenuts, grapes, pomegranate,lemon and others.

    Politically, Harazawalls have voted for Pakistan Muslim League but mostly their elected leadership have betrayed their confidence by switching sides in the assemblies for becoming ministers and advisers. They have earned bad reputation in provincial and federal politics due to this behaviour. But people of Hazara love their country and are very peaceful and accomodative in nature. Younger generation is on rebelion mode due to bad politics of their elected representatives.

    Hazara lacks in medical and health facilities and have not been able to secure a modern, easily accessible institution in this regard. Ayub Medical Comples in Abbottabad has become a victim of internal politics of doctors and paramedics and external influence of political figures to gain ground there.

    Disqualification of Sharif brothers

    On February 25, 2009 controversial Supreme Court decided todisqualify two most popular leaders of the country. This decision is believed to be given under the direct directions and wishes of President Zardari.

    Zardari coming from a feudal family doesn't accept any person standing against him and is on the course of eliminating his political rivals fromthe scene. He is vigorously following the path of Genaral Musharaf and is truly behaving like a dictator. There is growing discontent amongst Pakistan Peoples Party on the issues of disqualification of Sharifs and restroation of Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudary.

    On hearing this politico-judicial decision, supporters of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) came to the streets and agitated in full force. Today being second day of the crisis, the demonstrations have turned violent. There have been a death of a PML(N) worker in Rawalpindi.

    People have disapproved this collaboration of President Zardari and the top judges of the country. Zardari's graph of popularity is at the lowest and he ihas become a person whom no one wants to believe in.

    Zardari seems to be surrounded by very immature and directionless advisors and is pursuing personal agends rather than a national one. Imposition of Governor's rule and locking the Punjab Assembly building have exposed malafide designs of the PPP and Zardari. Zardari seems desperate to control largest province of the country.

    This sounds as beginning of the end..... for whom???? Only time will tell.

    Do we need guns????

    Provincial government of NWFP led by Awami National Party (ANP) has decided to distribute 30000 guns to the people of the province through local police. This decision has sent shivers in the civil society in NWFP and accross the world. This is a highly objectionale decision and needs to be opposed all who matter.

    This irrational decision has sent a message that truce brought about in Swat will be shortlived. ANP government will use this decision to distribute AK-47 and other guns to its party workers and much it will land in the hands of criminals. Guns and rifles look good in the hands of government agencies only. It should be the stae who should have these intruments. People need schools, hospitals and basic amenities not the guns. This decision has tarnished the imaged of Pakistan and NWFP as a modern muslim state.

    On the one hand government has cut 73% of budget from Higher Education Commission due to lack of funds and on the other hand it has got enough in the kitty to distribute 30000 free klashinkovs (AK47s) to selected people. Its a shame that in this age and time , our leaders have a primitive approach.

    Children need schools, books, computers and basic leisures of life. Please have mercy on this nation and make decisions which take Pakistan to new heights of development and culture which brings pride and happiness in the society. Distribution of guns is not the answer.

    ANP government has proved to lack wisdom. This decision will derail peace process initiated in Swat and will create further conflicts in an already fragile province.

    Drone attacks and Pakistan's dilemma

    These unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) are commonly called as Drones. These days they are a hot topic in Pakistan as they are continouly attacking targets with in the Pakistani territory. Previously, it was believed that these drones fly from Afghanistan and attack targets in FATA and other areas of Pakistan. Now it has proved contrary to popular beilef as these drones fly from within Pakistan and return to bases here.

    Pakistani government has been denying that she gave any permission for these US drones to attack targets in Pakistan. Zardari and his PPP government has proved to be lying again to their nation on this subject. Thay record is stigmatized with the lies as they mislead their own nation for their personal agendas. This trend is very dangerous to the country and its citizen. People are confused as to why their own leaders are betraying them. Commoners are asking these so called democratic leaders to start trusting their nation.

    So far PPP (Pakistan Peoples Party) under Zardari has failed to win confidence of the nation. Though they have been elected but their approach is not democratic. Zardari has fallen back on his written and public committments for restoration of judges including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary. Zardari seems to project his personal ambitions by following American dictates and compromising on the national interests and security.

    Are these drone attacks helping anyone? Answer is simple NO. These attacks have killed innocent civilians including children, women and elderly. They have destroyed unarmed poor people. Hatred towards US policies due to this continued genocide of people in FATA and other areas of Pakistan has increased. No one can come out in support of US policies except Zardari and his PPP government.

    PPP government can win people's hearts and minds provided it starts speaking truth to her nation and voters and distance herself from US pressures and influences. Pakistan is lucky to have a great China. Pakistani policies should be towards China and not USA. American have nefarious designs towards Pakistan and its people. They want to disintegrate this country as it is only "atomic power' amongst the muslim countries. Leadership in Pakistan needs to raise to the occassion to make her people regain their lost pride and faith in political process.

    What next after Swat and FATA....!!!!

    World has seen the influence and power of Taleban and people who love their own way of life. Peoplein FATA have fought and are still fighting aggression against them on the behest of US hegemononistic designs. Pakistan Army though is reluctant, still has become a party to kill its own citizen. This war on terror is not a war of Pakistan. It is clearly a war of USA which is exerting herself in all parts of the world - being a so called "only" superpower.

    Afghnis and Pashtuns in particular on both sides of the Durand line have defeated US and NATO forces. Ground reality is that US and NATO forces are confined to their bases and have aerial dominance.Hearts and minds of all Afghans and Pashtuns are against US occupation and aggression.

    In Swat, the situation is for implementation of Shariah laws and all this got fuelled when people came to conclusion that Pakistani government has become subserviant to US influences. People stood up against their own army and have won the first round of the conflict. It is true that there are foreigh elements present in Swat area but they can be eliminated with support from Sufi Muhammad of TNSM and Talebans led by Maulvi Fazal Ullah.

    On ground, people are excited to have Shariah laws agreed for their region. Its a fact that anglo saxon laws are heavily tilted towards rich and corrupt people. further they are lenghty and have no impact on society as a whole. Muslims of NWFP and Afghanistan have highest respect for their religion and they never allow anyone to dictate their way of life. Its an irony that majority of commentators on TV networks and newspapers have either no comprehension of Pashtun society or they are indenial mode of the ground realities.

    FATA comprising roughly half of NWFP and Malkand Division (comprising of Dir,Swat Chitral, Buner and Shangla) which is part of settled administration of NWFP have gone into the controlling influence of taleban and people who love Shariah laws and hate foreign influences and ingresses. Clearly, they have come out victorious no matter how much drones are sent to kill innocent children and women.

    As astudent of politics, I can see that influence of Taleban will have their next target in settled areas of Hazara Division. It should be noted that Kohistan Dirtict which is part of Hazara Division has already gone to the influence of Taleban and Shariah laws have been agreed there.
    Mansehra District which has all the natural intincts for any islamic movement, is likely to see the fresh episode there.

    Mansehra has mountains, rivers, poverty, and a corrupt administration right from representatives in assemblies, local administrations and absence of any civic amenties. Earth quake affectees are a ready made chunk of disgruntled elements in the area who are fed up with the absence of relief initiatives for their settlement.

    Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary - Chief Justice of Pakistan

    General Musharaf (Ex-President) and his handpicked imported PrimeMinister Shaukat Aziz were actively involved in selling state properties and organizations like Steel Mills to interested parties in lieu of hefty bribes. This is what was real bone of contention which created all this judicial crisis in Pakistan.

    The present government of Zardari though is a democratic one, still is following the policies of the dictator Musharaf. Zaradri and company got power after the famous daring "NO" of honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan - Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary.

    Turmoil in Swat Valley - Pakistan

    Swat valley was included into Pakistan in 1969. Previously it was ruled by a "Wali" (Emperor). He conceded to Government of Pakistan and Swat became a dirtict of NWFP. The justice was swift, simple and people were happy and content. Decisions on public grievances were made with in days and victims compensated with out fail and prejudice. Non-muslims were given full protection and freedom to trade, worship and education and were treated equal citizen to muslims in the state.

    After becoming part of Pakistan, Swatis became discontent at lenghty, expensive and corrupt judicial system of inherited through British empire. Swatis were not used to this ineffective system. Movements for restoration of old judicial system were initiated many a time since 1969 but the momentum in such demands was felt when Maulana Sufi Muhammad founded a movement called as Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat-e Muhammadee (TNSM). It can be translated into the movement for implementation of Islamic laws. This movement has grass root support and assistance in whole of Malakand Division - of which Swat is just a part. This movement has spread to Northern district of Hazara Division called as Kohistan.

    Betrayals by successive Pakistani Governments for enforcement of Shariah laws in Malakand Division have made people of the region to disbelieve the promises of governments. Thus they have put their trust for Maluana Sufi Muhammad of TNSM.

    After government detained Maulana Sufi Muhammad, his son-in-law (named a Maulvi Fazal Ullah) founded an extremist group with in TNSM and started his own FM radio in Swat. He is a vocal speaker and people listen to him with great interest. He has touched the hearts and minds of the people of the region.

    Govenment of Paksitan started a military operation which has failed to achieve its results. On the contrary, this operation has given more support to the Taleban of all groups.

    The provincial government of Awami National Party (ANP) negotiated for a face saving deal with TNSM and are trying to negotiate peace with Taleban to restore writ of government in the region specially SwatValley.

    Swat is a scenic valley with high mountains covered with cedar, deodar and pines. It has orchards and vegetables of all temperate and tropical climates. Special sawti ric is grown which is very delicious.

    Swatis are predominately people of Yousafzai tribe who migrated to the valley from Afghnaistan and Central Asian regions. Some stayed in Swat valley and some moved to the plains of Mardan and Swabi which some moved to the now districts of Mansehra and Battagram which are part of Hazara Division.
